What Drives HVAC Installation Cost in Colorado Springs

Installation pricing along the Front Range is not the same as it is at sea level. At roughly 6,035 feet, thinner air carries less heat, so furnaces and air conditioners are de-rated and often need more capacity than the same home would require in a lower elevation city. Our estimates size heating around 30 BTU per square foot (up to 135,000 BTU) and cooling around 700 square feet per ton (up to 5 tons), then adjust for the details below.

Altitude & Equipment De-Rating

Gas furnaces lose roughly 4% of rated output for every 1,000 feet of elevation, so combustion has to be set up for altitude and the unit is frequently one size larger than a national sizing chart would suggest.

Cold Winters, Mild Summers

El Paso County design temperatures near 1°F mean heating capacity and efficiency matter most, while dry, mild summers let many homes stay comfortable with a modest air conditioner or a cold-climate heat pump.

Home Age, Insulation & Ductwork

Older Old Colorado City and Ivywild homes often need duct repairs, a new flue liner, or electrical work, which raises total installed cost compared with newer Falcon or Briargate construction.

Efficiency Level & Rebates

Moving from a single-stage furnace to a two-stage or modulating system, or from straight cooling to a heat pump, changes both the price and the rebates and tax credits you may qualify for.

Every price shown on this page is a flat-rate installed figure that includes equipment, labor, permits, taxes and fees. For a firm number, a licensed technician measures your home, checks the existing ductwork and electrical, and gives you written options at no cost.
